- Authentication tokens and browser local storage when logged in to verify contributor status
We collect your Personal Information primarily to provide, maintain, and moderate our family directory services, verify genuine parent reviews, notify you of published contributions, and protect the platform against spam and abuse. We do not sell or rent personal information to third-party data brokers.
2. Google User Data & Authentication (OAuth)
Best Days With Dad offers optional authentication via Google Sign-In. When you choose to authenticate with your Google account, our application requests access solely to standard, non-sensitive profile information:
- Your Full Name: Used to display your verified commenter profile and community badge (such as "Park Scout").
- Your Email Address: Used strictly for secure account identification, session authentication, and preventing automated spam.
- Your Profile Picture URL: Used to display your commenter avatar alongside your public feedback and spot recommendations.
Google API Services User Data Policy Compliance:
Best Days With Dad's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres strictly to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
In accordance with Google's Limited Use rules:
- We do not sell, rent, or trade Google user data to third parties, data brokers, or advertising networks.
- We do not transfer your Google data to third parties, except as strictly necessary to provide or improve authentication functionality (such as our database infrastructure provider, Supabase).
- We do not use or transfer your Google user data for serving personalized, retargeted, or interest-based advertising.
- We do not allow humans to read your Google user data unless you have given explicit consent, it is required for security investigations, or it is necessary to comply with applicable law.
3. Minor Privacy & Family Photography Standards
Best Days With Dad places the physical safety and digital privacy of minors above all else. We enforce a strict child privacy standard across all curated reviews and community submissions:
- Facility Focus: All reviews and user-submitted photos must focus on playground structures, amenities, shade, and park layouts rather than children playing.
- De-Identification: We do not publish identifying photographs of minors. Where incidental background figures are present, faces and distinguishing marks are obscured or cropped.
- No Identifying Details: We strictly prohibit public references to children’s full names, schools, sports clubs, daily schedules, or personal routines.
- Delayed Reporting: Venue reviews and outings are reported after the visit has concluded to eliminate real-time location tracking risks.
4. Sensitive Information
Sensitive information—as defined by the Privacy Act—includes information regarding racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious beliefs, trade union memberships, criminal records, or health information. We do not actively request or collect sensitive information. If inadvertently supplied, it will only be used for the direct purpose for which it was provided or where required by Australian law.
5. Third Parties & Cloud Infrastructure
Where reasonable and practicable, we collect your information directly from you. To provide a modern, fast, and secure directory experience, our website uses trusted cloud infrastructure providers:
- Database & Authentication: We use Supabase (PostgreSQL with Row Level Security and TLS encryption) to manage authenticated user records, store session states, and safeguard community contributions.
- Application Hosting: Our submission and comment APIs are hosted via Vercel to ensure encrypted, low-latency data transmission.
- Analytics: Aggregated, privacy-conscious analytics tools (such as Google Analytics) may be used to measure site traffic and popular search tags without tracking sensitive personal identities.
6. Disclosure of Personal Information
Your Personal Information will only be disclosed in limited circumstances:
- Where you provide explicit consent to share details (such as displaying your chosen contributor nickname or avatar on a published spot review); or
- Where required or authorised by Australian law or legal process.
7. Security & Storage of Personal Information
Your Personal Information is stored securely using industry-standard encryption, Row Level Security (RLS) policies, and authenticated endpoints designed to prevent unauthorised access, modification, or disclosure.
When personal information is no longer needed for its original purpose or verification requirements, we take reasonable steps to destroy or permanently de-identify it.
8. Data Retention, Account Deletion & Revoking Access
We retain your profile data only as long as your account remains active. You maintain full control over your personal data at all times:
- Direct Comment Deletion: Authenticated users have immediate, self-service access to delete their own comments on any page. Deleting a comment permanently purges the comment record directly from our Supabase database.
- Spot Submissions: Playground listings, coordinates, and amenity checklists submitted via our "Add a Spot" tools are non-retractable community assets. If an account is deleted, the public spot listing remains active to serve local families, but all personal submitter identifiers are permanently scrubbed and de-identified.
- Revoking Access: You can disconnect and revoke Best Days With Dad's access to your Google account at any time through your Google Account Permissions Settings.
- Account Deletion Requests: If you wish to delete your entire profile and authentication footprint permanently, submit a request via our Contact Us page or email us directly at [email protected]. All associated personal identifiers will be purged within 30 days.

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically as community features expand or legal requirements evolve. The most current version will always be published on this page with the date of last revision indicated.
